On 5 August 2025, Dr Ann Gillian Chu (alumna 2019 and 2023) presented her research at the 2025 Baptist Scholars International Roundtable (BSIR), hosted at Christ Church College, University of Oxford. The event was organized by the Department of Religion at Baylor University.
Dr Chu’s paper, titled “Left-behind: Elderly Parents and Hong Kong Baptist Churches,” explored the intersection of faith, family, and community care in Hong Kong. Her presentation was followed by a detailed response from Professor Dub Oliver, President of Union University.
This year’s Roundtable brought together nine scholars selected through a highly competitive process to present on the theme “Baptists and Global Mission.” Participants considered how Baptists worldwide have historically understood and practiced missionary work.
