We’re delighted to hear from Thao Nghiem, alumnus of last year’s UCSIA Summer School, who recently shared news of his latest publication. Thao has contributed a chapter to the newly released collected volume Communist Perspectives on Atheism in the Twentieth Century (Routledge), supported by the John Templeton Foundation and available Open Access.
His chapter, Chapter 8: Navigating ‘Superstition’, Science, and (Non-)Belief: Religious Engineering and Dynamics of Secularism in the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, 1955–1975 examines the complex interplay of religion, secularism, and state control in mid-20th-century Vietnam.
We warmly congratulate Thao on this achievement and are proud to see our Summer School alumni actively contributing to global scholarship.
