We are pleased to share the wonderful news that Dr. Bincy Mariya N successfully defended her PhD thesis on 11 November 2024. Her dissertation, titled “Caste and Conversion in Kerala: A Study of Literary Representations”, was completed under the supervision of Dr. Anandita Pan at ISER Bhopal.
Dr. Bincy Mariya’s research examines the intricate relationships between caste, religion, and identity in Kerala through the lens of literature. Her work contributes to broader conversations in the interdisciplinary fields of the Humanities and Social Sciences, with a particular focus on caste, gender, and religion.
Notably, the UCSIA Summer School was the final academic event Bincy attended as a PhD student. She credits the experience as an important and inspiring part of her final phase, offering valuable feedback and new perspectives that enriched her work.
