We are proud to share wonderful news from one of our early Summer School alumni. Dr. Tamara Zlobina, who participated in the 2007 edition of the UCSIA Summer School on Religion, Culture and Society, has been awarded the Emma Goldman Snowball Award 2025.

Tamara, a Ukrainian feminist philosopher with a PhD in Philosophy, is the founder and head of “Expert Resource Gender in Detail,” Ukraine’s leading media and consultancy platform focused on gender issues. Her work as a scholar and public intellectual continues to make a significant impact on debates around feminism, human rights, and equality policies in Europe.

Tamara fondly recalls the UCSIA Summer School as the first international academic event she ever attended, a formative experience that played an important role in her academic journey. She remembers the inspiration of meeting scholars like Ronald Inglehart and John Hutchinson, whose work deeply influenced her research.

The Emma Goldman Awards, presented by the FLAX Foundation since 2020, honour outstanding feminist researchers whose work drives real societal change. Tamara’s award is a well-deserved recognition of her contributions to both scholarship and activism in Eastern Europe and beyond.

We warmly congratulate Tamara and are proud to see how our alumni continue to shape critical conversations and advocate for a more inclusive world.
